NEA AGXIALOS (Volos Airport)
Nea Anchialos National Airport operated for the first time in 1991. Located 26 km. away from the city of Volos, it is easily accessible via E75 motorway. In the past, the airport linked Volos to Athens by air, as well as charter flights from many parts of Europe.The new 9000 m2 terminal is due to be completed in 2009 and is expected to promote the airport’s growth. Air Berlin already conducts flights with destination to Nuremberg. Except for the regular itineraries of Air Berlin, the airport continues to host a number of charter flights. The new terminal building includes a ground floor which will host a waiting room, 10 entry and exit gates as well as an upper floor, where a restaurant and the duty free shops will be located. The surrounding area covers 24.000 m2, a sufficient surface for parking spaces.
